Gutter Replacement and Installation

Gutters do quiet work until the day they stop.

A gutter system moves every drop of water that hits your roof away from the fascia, the siding, the foundation, and the ground around your home. Across the Midwest and New England, that job gets harder every winter. Snow melts on a warm afternoon and refreezes at the edge overnight. Spring thaw pushes weeks of runoff through the same channels. Autumn fills the troughs with leaves and grit washed off the shingles.

Vault Roofing installs continuous aluminum gutter systems custom-fit to the home they protect. We remove the failing system, set the new one at the correct pitch, and place downspouts where the water actually needs to go.

CONSIDER IT COVERED.

Winter Danger. Large icicles and heavy snow

Why Drainage Matters in a Snowy Climate

Warmer regions ask a gutter to handle rain. Northern homes ask for a great deal more.

Snow load presses on the front edge of the trough all winter. Meltwater refreezes inside the gutter and expands, opening seams and pulling hangers away from the fascia. Ice builds at the roof edge when attic heat melts snow that later refreezes, and a trough packed with ice gives the next round of meltwater no exit. Water then finds the path available to it, usually behind the gutter and down the wall.

A system sized and pitched correctly clears itself before the temperature drops again. A slow-draining system holds water through every freeze, and each cycle widens what is already open.

Continuous Aluminum, Sized and Pitched for Your Roof

Sectional gutters are joined every few feet, and every joint is a future leak. Ours are formed on site from a single coil of aluminum and cut to the exact length of each run. The only joints are at corners and outlets.

Aluminum performs well in cold, wet conditions. It will not rust, it holds factory finishes cleanly, and it is light enough to hang without stressing older fascia boards.

Sizing carries as much weight as material choice. A steep roof with a large drainage area moves water fast and needs trough and downspout capacity to match it. Pitch is the other half of the equation. Too little slope leaves water standing in the trough, and too much sends it past the outlet. We measure the roof area feeding each run before we form a single foot of gutter.

Guards, Leaves, and What Actually Clogs a Gutter

Leaves get the blame. Shingle granules, pine needles, seed pods, and roofing grit fill a trough just as effectively.

Debris does its real damage in winter. A blocked gutter holds water, the water freezes, and the ice adds weight the hangers were never built to carry. Clearing the system before the first hard freeze and again after leaf drop keeps water moving.

Guards reduce how often that clearing is needed. They do not remove the need for it. Fine debris works through most screens, and every guard style needs occasional attention. We talk through guard options during the inspection and give you a straight answer about how they will perform on your roof.

Signs a Gutter System Needs Replacing Instead of Repair

Plenty of gutter problems are worth repairing. One loose hanger, a single leaking corner, a downspout that came apart at an elbow: those are afternoon fixes.

Replacement is usually the better long-term answer when you see:

  • Sagging or separation from the fascia along a full run
  • Seams that reopen after being sealed
  • Rust spots, pinholes, or splits forming along the trough
  • Water spilling over the front edge during ordinary rainfall
  • Standing water in the trough hours after the rain stops, a sign the pitch is gone
  • Frequent clogs that cleaning does not resolve
  • Peeling paint, rot, or staining on the fascia and siding underneath

Age counts as well. Gutters that have been patched season after season tend to open a new leak somewhere else each spring.

Our Gutter Replacement Process

Inspection

Every project begins with a thorough inspection of the existing gutter system, the fascia behind it, and the roof edge above it. We explain what we find and answer your questions before any decision is made.

Clear Recommendations

If replacement makes sense, we walk you through your options and provide a detailed, straightforward estimate. No pressure. No surprises.

Final Confirmations

Your dedicated field supervisor will call the night before for an introduction, confirmation of project details, and arrival times. On the morning your project begins, your labor foreman will stop by for a quick walk through and any last-minute questions.

Installation

We remove and dispose of the old system, then install custom-fit gutters with proper pitch, correct downspout placement, secure hangers, and clean finished edges. Our team completes regular site visits to confirm the work meets our quality standards.

Final Walk-Through & Completion

Before we wrap up, we do a final walk-through with you. You review the work and raise anything still open. Once the walkthrough is complete, we officially close out the project.

Why Homeowners Choose Vault Roofing for Gutters

A lot of contractors treat gutters as an add-on. We install them with the same care we bring to a full roof replacement.

What you can expect from us:

Gutter work often reveals something at the roof edge, in the drip edge, fascia, or the first course of shingles. Our crews work on both systems every day and can tell you what they are seeing while the ladders are still up.

Gutter Replacement FAQs

How do I know whether my gutters need repair or full replacement?

One loose hanger or a single leaking corner is a repair. Sagging along a whole run, rust and pinholes, seams that reopen after sealing, or standing water from lost pitch all point toward replacement. A free inspection settles the question either way.

A sectional system is assembled from short lengths joined every few feet. Ours is formed on site from one coil and cut to fit each run exactly. Fewer joints leave fewer places for water to escape. That counts most in winter, when water freezing inside a joint widens the gap a little more each year.

Yes. We handle full removal and disposal of your old system, then install a new, properly pitched setup using new hangers, downspouts, and accessories.

They will. We offer a wide range of standard and custom color options to match or complement your siding, trim, or roofline.

Guards cut down how often gutters need clearing. Shingle granules, pine needles, and other fine debris still work through most screens. Plan on a check before the first hard freeze and another after the leaves have dropped.

At least twice a year, after fall leaf drop and again after the spring thaw. A look after any major storm is worth the time as well.

Yes, and that order tends to work best. New gutters go on once the roof edge, drip edge, and fascia are finished, which protects the new install and saves a second trip out.
